The aim of the research project is to develop methodologies and simulation models for bird-aircraft strike threat assessment and prediction. We use avian radar systems to collect bird activity data near airports. We extract information from the data to build our model. Currently a bird strike threat assessment model is under development which can be used to devise air-flight schedules that minimize airport operational cost.
